Go to www.454ss.com. Look in the gallery section for members rides. Look for Jim Dickie's truck.

Read through the explanation of the TB mods and you will find an email address for contact.

BTW, I am using one of these, if you have any questions.

found it!

here's the link: http://www.454ss.com/gallery/JimD/JimD_TBI.htm

he sleeved his tbi out to 56mm (2.2") and shaved the throttle shaft down to 4.9 mm. he claims a 40% increase in airflow at wot.
now, he has mpfi, so his tbi unit is only flowing air. not sure how this would work with an injector pod.

there was a big discussion in a now missing thread about the horsepower and airflow limits of tbi. obviously, this is way more than you'd need for anything less than a 383/400 making over 350 hp, but i wonder if this would be a good idea for a big cubic inch/high horsepower combination.

i guess the question is .. what is the LOGICAL max for tbi? i see people on here who are so enamored of tbi that they get angry when someone says anything they percieve as being negative about it. i'm not that way. frankly, i think stealth ram is probably the hottest setup right now and offers incredible bang for the buck, but there's no way to make it smog legal and i have to be checked every year.

tbi is what i have, a 400 making at least 400 hp below 5,500 rpm is what i want, and a gen 7 dfi costs waaayyyyyy too much. i'd like to find a feasable way to make my tbi support the engine i want to build, if possible.

my current thinking is tbi runs out of air before it runs out of gas. two 90# injectors at high fuel pressure would seem to flow enough fuel to support the hp i want to make, although i'm not sure how to figure in the increased fuel pressure to the equation. does anyone know?

anyway, this thing looks like it flows a lot of air. any thoughts? what would low end throttle response be like with that hog on top the motor? mileage?

also, if you could sleeve a 454 tbi, couldn't you sleeve a 670 holley?

I use one of Jim's TB's with the injectors in the stock location. In my opinion, it works really well! I am using it on a 454 in my 90 SS pickup. I have been a 13.42 in the 1/4 at 99.92 mph. This is in a 4500 lb truck with stock coverter, stock 3.73's, single exhaust. 8.0 CR.

The great thing about the Jim D TB is that it looks stock from the outside, so passing the visual test is a cinch!
