newbie question

Hi I just got a L31 vortec motor out of a 97' van. I'm wondering what else I need to put it on my goodwrench 350(pre 86'). I have the computer but it was cut out and is missing some of the connectors. Should I get a Painless harness, I want to be able to use the hypertech programmer. Also if any one has a suggestion on a cam, that would be greatly appreciated. This is going in my 67 camaro w4spd. thanks again

That is a tough one for me but I would suggest using a wiring harness out of another camaro. I used my stock wiring harness which came with a 305 tbi and I put in a gm crate 350. I had to put in bigger injectors, get a 350 knock sensor, and a custom chip for a 350 (tbichips.com). I used the stock computer though. Runs great. If you want to use the hypertech programmer you will have to use a newer computer and harness I would guess. The cam that came in my new 350 was 203/210 dur. @ .050 and .476/.480 lift. I was told that was about the highest I could go without getting a special chip. Although I have heard guys on here getting much higher duration that that on their cams with those custom chips. Hope this helps somehow. Sorry I didn't know more.
