lt1 cam and lifters

I just got a used LT1 cam from z28.com. Iwas wondering how can i tell if a cam has excessive wear? I got it for real cheap, but i dont want to put a cam in that is already worn out.
Also, am i going to have to get new lifters? I heard that the original lifters are worn with the original cam, and i needed to get new lifters.
Thnx,
KD

Just look at the lobes, if you can tell obvious wear on them, like actual grooves them the cam is no good. If there is just a slight discoloration on the part where the lifter made contact with the cam then everything is good. You dont need new lifters either.
