hissing air cleaner

I've heard other people talking about how their engine hisses with an open element, and was wondering if this is normal and of there is a way to stop it.

oh yeah mine hisses too

It's norman. Just the engine sucking in air. I think it's a pretty cool sound myself.

yeah thats normal to hear the hissing with an open element. I also think that sound is pretty cool.

I get this too. It's funny because at startup it sounds like it's sucking it through my air conditioning vents on the interior. If you have a loud exhaust like a flowmaster like I do, you won't hear it at all while driving.
