What does this have to do with TBI? I'll tell you. Since I installed a performer rpm I haven't had enough hood clearence to run a 3" air cleaner with my non drop base. Now I got room for a 4" and I can also run my Edelbrock elite lid that matches my my pre 87 elite valve covers. (my S/R torquers are pre 87 so I have a wider selection of manifolds and valve covers to chose from. Non center bolt roller rockers are cheaper also. ) Anyway, I'm going to get a 4" K&N style. The hood is a fully funtional cowl type so I am finally getting some cold air to the open element air cleaner.
