Yes the heads will fit, but you dont want them. Your current 305 heads have 58cc combustion chambers for a compression ratio of 9.3:1. The '78 350 heads will have a combustion chamber of 72cc or 76cc, dropping your compression ratio down in the 7's, or less. That will make your car run horrible and get bad gas mileage.

The Corvette heads you really want would be the L98 aluminums from 87-91. But they have their own problems with the intake bolt pattern, lack of EGR, and missing accessory bolt hole.

What about the L98's from Camaro's? Do they have the same problems as the aluminum Corvette ones? How hard/ expensive are these problems to fix?

The iron L98 heads from f-bodies are 64cc's, made for 350's, and will lower the compression ratio of a 305 as well. The best heads for 305's are the World Products S/R Torquer 305's, the Corvette L98 aluminums, and the 14101081 stock TPI 305 heads. But its really not worth it to buy new heads for a 305...
