305 1 piece flywheel to a 2 piece engine

305 1 piece flywheel to a 2 piece engine

Quick question i have a big swap this week i am swapping my 305 5 spd motor for a 350 engine the 5 spd has a 1 piece rear seal the 350 has a 2 piece seal will the 305 flywheel work with my 350 or do i HAVE TO PURCHASE A 2 PIECE flywheel????i have a napa part number SDF6515 for a standard flywheel. can anyone tell me if this is correct or can i save money and use my 305 flywheel???

correction i have a 1 piece 305, swapping it for a 2 piece 350

if you dont have the flywheel for the 350 your going to have to get one, the 305 1 piece will not work. sorry man thats just how it is, the end of the crank (where the flywheel bolts on) on the 350 is not round right?

Axle/Gears: 9-bolt w/ 3.23's
ive heard people talking of machining them to get the one peice flywheel to fit the two piece crank. Basically the hole in the center has to be enlarged and the bolt holes have to be drilled to acomodate teh larger bolt circle of the two peice crank (located offset from the origional holes, of coarse).

BTW, if the present flywheel has lots of miles on it, youd be better off just replacing it.

does anyone no of a cheap place to obtain one from? napas part number is sdf6515 has anyone tried this one...Thanks
