Fan problem.
I also have a problem with my fan, I think. I dont even know for sure, Im going by what the guy who I bought it from told me. I'll look into it more later. But he says the fan doesnt come on by itself. He said its hard wired in now, and that when you turn the A/C switch on to 'normal' it will turn the fan on. This does not make any sense to me, and I don't know what he's talking about. I dont think he knows what he's talking about, he knows nothing about cars.

in the passenger side cylinder head is a fan switch that is connected to the fan, when the coolant reaches a certain temperature the switch grounds itself which then causes the fan to turn on. He much have unhooked or broken the connector on the fan switch and never bothered to replace it. And yes, if you switch the controls to AC, yes the fan will come on, but you might still want to get that fan switch fixed.
Does the car still have AC?
