My 1992 Camaro Owner's Manual and the Crank Cap says to use 5W-30.

If I put 5w30 in my car the valve guides leak, I've stuck with Mobil1 10w30 and the car runs fine with no leaks!

I run 20W50 in my car, never had any problems with it. Actually I run it in all 3 of my cars. Exxon Superflo 20w50.

I use 5w30 in my 92 as well and prolly wouldn't go any thicker than 10w30. My rule of thumb is to go as thin as you feel comfortable because thicker oils will just cause a loss in hp.

I agree, i wouldnt go over 10w30. The thicker oil will jsut strain the oil pump and distributer gear and waste HP due to excess friction. The only thing i ever used the thick 'maple syrup' type oils in was my s-10. It was the only way i could build any oil pressure and keep it quiet.
