2030 roller cam with stock heads and intake?

Is anyone on here running a crane 2030 roller cam with the stock heads and intake? How is it working?

Also would it be wise to get the edelbrock performer TBI intake also. This is going to be in a TBI 5.7 truck with a 2200 stall, headers, exhaust, electric fans, and the ultimate TBI mods.

Another idea i was throwing around was using the lt4 production cam with this setup. Any suggestions?Comments?

I'm not looking for a pavement pounder or tuning nightmare, this truck is going to be driven 100 or so miles a day. So Driveability and mileage are important factors.

What are the specs on that cam? A LT4/LT1 cam will work great with the stock heads as long as you use 1.5 rockers (can re-use stock). The LT4 cam is a little bigger but should still be very streetable. I was about to use a LT4 cam in my car with the stock heads but I sold it in favor of a used LT1 cam for $$ reasons. Any cam swap will cause you to need a new tune. Sure there are some poeple who bump the timing and fuel pressure and call it a day but that is only a bandaid with less than optimal drivability. You should look into getting the stuff to burn your own chips. The edelbrock intake is a nice direct bolt on but suffers from the stock size inlet bores. I have remedied the situation by boring mine out to 2". This allows me to use a larger TBI unit down the road. You may need a larger TBI unit after the cam swap. The stock one really cannot support that much power and you power levels will be higher than those on a similarly equiped 305 TBI that can get away with the stocker.

here are specs for 2030 roller:

Crane Cams CompuCam 2030 Hydraulic Roller Camshaft, 204 / 214, .429 / .452 116 LSA, For factory roller cam engines with TPI or TBI and stock computer. Adjustable fuel pressure regulator recommended.

I want to run this with stock heads and an edelbrock intake. Seems like it would work fine, it is a really mild cam.

Yea you can run that no problem but you will still need to burn a new chip. That is a pretty mild cam and is very similar to a LT1 cam. Plus it has a nice LSA so tunabilty shouldn't be to far fetched. Now don't get me wrong, your car will run with that set-up on the stock tune, but it won't feel very fast until you get a new prom.

I have that cam in a tbi 350, with the edelbrock tbi intake and a turbo city throttle body.
Been a very good combination.
You will need a custom chip to make the most of it.

Rich92rs350,
Are you running 350 or 305? and what heads are you using? I cant afford new heads right now(unless they are given to me )So i will be sticking with the stock ones. They have ZZ4 springs and hardware. I want the truck to be fun to drive, yet reliable and efficient(as efficient as TBI can get ) Do you think that the 2030 roller and edelbrock intake will get me what i want?I will also be doing vacuum AFPR and Ultimate mods.
