Rattle Help
Ok, First off, I'm sorry. I'm sure no one really cares about the rattle i'm getting. But I'm strapped for cash, and i just cant go replacing everything.
Anyways, the rattle is 100% from engine compartment, and 80% from somthing on the belt. It only rattles when warm and ideling, Or during any slow accelerations. Does NOT rattle on medium to heavy accelerations.
I've Replaced the Water pump (as it seems to be the most commen rattle source) w/ performance high flow pump, w/ no help. I've also removed the AC Compressor (and AC system). I've taken it to 4 different places, and no one can find the source. (i've even used my fathers Mechanics Stethoscope). I just can't figure this thing out.
Is it possible that its the timing chain? Whats the most common belt driven rattles? (serpentine belt too)
- Thanks ahead of time.

If it does it when it idles warmed up, then remove the belt when warm and idle the engine for a brief period.
If it's a belt driven item, it won't be there. If it were the timing chain, then the rattle would still be there.
Any chance it's from below as a heat shield of a cat?

I had a very similar rattle to you and it ended up being the top bolt on my passenger side accessory bracket. It had snapped off into the head. I hvae no idea how this happened but my geuss would be maybe because I do not have the AC brace on anymore becasue of my headers. I had to take the bracket off and drill out the bolt.
