Idle Question

Ok...I am not sure if this is a good thing or a bad thing however here goes. My Trans Am seems to idle at 500rpm. Is that right? I figure it is wrong cuz my Tempo idles at 1000rpm. I figured it being a bigger engine it would either be 1000rpm or higher. Any feedback would be greatly apreciated.

Thanks

smaller engines need to idle at a higher speed, 500 is just about right for our cars.

Don't go by your tach either. They are notoriously off a bit. You are probably at 650 or so. Smaller engines tend to idle higher for many reasons. Yours is normal.
