My small summer project..

Hi!
I'm making preparations for my summer project and I would like to ask you: "what do you think?"
I mean:
What am I forgetting? What else should I modify? Or what I should lookout for?

My desired setup looks like this:
1. shorty headers
2. custom 3" catback w/o cat
3. AIR pump delete
4. ported&polished heads
5. custom dual snorkel air filter
6. raised fuel pressure
7. LT1 cam
and +125hp shot of nitrous..

I'm looking for power boost of course, but with drivebility and economy in mind (We pay over $1 for 1liter of gasoline..) so I decided to use nitrous as my main "power adder".
So what do you think about this setup?

port and polishing stock heads will be a waste of time and money, if u want better flowing heads pick up with 305 TPI heads, casting number 081. Also im not sure if you want to go 125HP shot on a stock motor, i would keep it between 75-100HP

Your gonna need a new chip or do some chip burning since you are getting an LT1 cam and a full exhaust. With those mods your car won't run right or at all with the stock PROM.

yeah, there is a whole lot that is involved with a cam swap...if you have high mileage, then youll more than likely need new valve springs and timing chain and DEFINATELY a custom burned chip. Youll also want to get a new intake manifold, either an Edelbrock performer TBI or carb intake will be good enough, because i dont think you want to run your stock intake with that camshaft.

Hey! Thanks for all your info.

I'm looking for those heads and I'm going to get new timing chain and new valve springs you've mentioned.
But what kind of them should I get (valve springs)? Are there any aftermarket reinforced ones?
And how about that carb intake? I don't quite understand.. You ment me to do a swap from TBI to carb? or a carb manifold will somehow fit in TBI setup??

And how bad will I be runing on stock manifold? Can I postpone manifold change? Because I would like to be running with my new setup ASAP.

I know I will be needing a new chip. I will try to burn one on my own or send WinALDL to someone to burn it for me if I will fail.

And finally: Is 125hp shot of juice really to much? Holley is advertising it's NOS systems to run +140hp boosts on stock internals..

You can buy a carb intake and then put on an adapter on it to make it work with TBI. It's easier to just get the Edelbrock TBI intake manifold, though. I would go ahead and get the new manifold because of the mods you want to do. You're going to have to remove the intake to do the cam and heads swap anyway. You're probably going to be starving the engine with the stock intake. Your engine will have a lot of air going out but not a lot going in, sort of. As long as the heads you get are new or have very low miles you probably won't need new valve springs (don't quote me on this, I'm not 100% sure).

do a search on LT1 cam in the TBI boards you will find SO MUCH info, everything you need. THis question is asked weekly and used to be asked daily.

I would look into upgrading your fuel pump also.

You really don't want to run out of fuel volume while the nitrous is activated.
