Changing timing?

I was talking with my friend about changing the timing in my car, bumping it up to 2* or 4* and he said that you can't do it on computer controlled cars. He says that if you change it once the computer senses it that the computer will change it back. He tried changing the timing on his 87 Buick Regal T-Type and he says it just got reset after he reconnected the computer. So can you really change your timing or not?

yes you can change it.

4* works very well on our cars.

Although the computer controls total timing it adds it from whatever base timing is set. I would go with 4*.
