2nd part of "need help with 91 w/305TBI

Thank you ShiftyCapone, Benm109 and Gunny Highway for the replys.

As I mentioned in my 5/24 post, our car(91 RS)will stall at times when put in gear, sluggish from a dead stop and when accerlating will hesitate, feel choppy or jerky.

The car was adjusted to proper idle and timing and all filters were changed although the problem still exists. Tomorrow the car is headed in for a fuel pressure test but I have another question.

The car starts, idles and revs fine in the park mode. All of our problems start as soon as the car is put in gear. Would a near falty fuel pump act up only when put in gear? I believe we have a fuel problem but is there anything else in the car(such as sensor or regulator)to control the fuel under a load.

Hopefully the test tomorrow will put us in the right direction. Once last thing. I know the fuel systems are pressurized. It seems when the gas cap is removed from the Camaro that there is a lot of pressure released. I don't remember this on my 92 & 97 Plymouth. Is this pressure normal? Thanks again, Randy

It will be interesting to see you fuel pressure results. I bet that is the culprit. When your engine idles it is under zero load and only requires spits of fuel. When you put your car into gear it puts the engine under a slight load that requires more fuel. The "hiss" sound you hear when you unscrew the gas cap is normal. Mine sounds like I am popping a tire and is louder than any other car I have ever own or filled up with gas. If the mechanic tells you that the pressure is under 10PSI I would change the pump. Chances are you will see that you are only at 7 or 8. That is enough to keep the car running with zero load.
