couple mod questions

im planning on puttin some money into my 92 tbi camaro. it already has 3 inch flowmaster exhaust and the heads have some work done as well. im trying to decide whether or not to go open element or make a CAI like i've seen in other post's that some of you guys have done. what are the noticable improvements from the open element other than looks? also, im planning on a bigger throttle body, headers and intake manifold. what would some of you guys recommend brand and size wise? im not looking to go cheap on all this, but dont want to loose my shirt either. im planning on spreading it out one mod at a time over the next two months. any help, reccomendations and info on whats hot and whats not would be great. thanks

Let me first to welcome you aboard to TGO. Now about your mods. I assume you read the "new to TBI" thread at the top of this forum. It has a lot of "what you should do first" insite. The open element is a no brainer because it is super cheap, gives a nice performance boost, and makes an awesome sucking sound. Save the bigger throttle body for when you have serious heads and cam. I would look into suspension upgrades or headers. Both are very important when making your car a performer. There are a million posts out there about the open element so I encourage you to search for them.

thanks shifty for the welcome and the help. i bought the car with a suspension set up already installed, so it rides really nice, corners pretty good too, better than my 89 mustang did thats for sure. i'll try to get some pics of the car up over the weekend. i've done a couple searches, im going to go with the open element for sure. and i think gears as well 3.73 most likely.

Yeah I'd go with the gears like you're thinking and a posi carrier too of course. Then look into some good headers, heard a lot of good things about the Hooker 2055's. Check them out.

I'd also like to welcome you to TGO! You'll see really quickly just how much help you can get from this place. Like Shifty said (and let me tell you when Shifty speak, you LISTEN) the "New to TBI" thread will tell you lots of great stuff. Also, you have another huge tool at your advantage...
