Stiff throttle

I'm upgrading my vehicle from carb to throttle body. I have a factory GM Rochester TBI and the the throttle is very stiff (well it was). With the two return springs, one on each side of the throttle shaft, it takes a lot of force to press the gas pedal. It's not like anything's really binding, it's just very stiff fighting the springs. Has anyone else noticed this on a swap? Is there something different in the throttle cabling on carb vs. TBI vehicles that gives less mechanical advantage or something?

My solution so far was to remove one of the springs. I disabled the spring on the throttle cable side of the throttle shaft, so I only have the one on the TPS side. I like it better this way, but it's kind of weird in some unexplainable way... It might be slightly weak since my TPS readings with my foot off the throttle vary slightly now.

Has anyone been down this road and have a good solution for making the throttle feel be "just right"? Is there a reason why my temporary fix of disabling one spring is a bad idea?

Take the TBI unit off and spary down the spring with carb cleaner. Use a toothbrush to clean out oall of the funk between the coils. You will have to exercise the throttle to get all the funk out while cleaning. Then spray it down with a little WD40 at the hinge pionts and along the spring length. This will keep it moving freely.
