IAC....Pintel & cleaning???
question for you guys....tongiht I pulled out my IAC and cleaned it.....put it back in the TBI as per the directions I pulled from here. But there was one question I had.......how far do you rock that pintel back and forth into the actual IAC before screwign it back into the TBI Unit???????
I just did it until it "looked" like it was before I took it out....It seems like its in there ok....took took the car for about 20 min drive, and with the exception of one spell where she stalled out on me and was difficult to start for about 10 sec...everthing seemed fine....it idles a little bit higher.....but seems fine.....just cuious to see how far that pintel has to be put back into the motor?
I guess tomorrow in stop and go traffic that will be the test if things are back together correctly...lol

Far enough so that it doesnt bottom out on its seat while your still screwing it back in. The IAC only has some plastic parts in it and they look like they could break easy.
If the car is still flakey after you clean the IAC and after the car has been shut down and restarted then its probably time to trash the present one and get a new one. Try to get one from A/C Delco. Echlin or whomever markets their products under the borg/warner name makes an ok one thats not too expensive. Kinda cheesy but it works. You can find those IACs at your local Pep-Boys if they actually still carry car parts. They seem to be slowly transforming into a crappy version of Sears Robuck or something.

well the good news is that I drove it into work (mostly stop and go)...and she was fine. Idled better....still a little higher...but nothign to worry about...stalled once on me....but started right up (the car has always seemed to do that to me for some reason).
BTW...approx how much does a new one go for?

Aw it doenst idle high enough for me to justify spending the 40 bucks....we are only talking like before it use to idle at about 450...now its probably at like 550/600....not a big deal in my eyes.
I drove her home from work today...no problems so I guess that littel "incidence" I had last night was an isolated incidence....
Thansk for all the help!
