Out of control TBI project

ok I was told I was insane but this is what I'm doing.

My car was a 305 tbi 5-speed out went the old drive train and sold for my lust for speed.

the new motor is a late modle truck block 2 blot mains 40 over 357 with an LT4 hot cam Renegade 190cc heads with 2.02 and 1.60 valves(pro 1 dart rip off heads) T-56 trans and 4.10 gears with slp limited slip. I used a knock sensor from a tbi truck and a walbro 225 fuel pump Edelbrock headers with the 3inch slip on cat, magnaflow 3inch cat and flowmaster 3inc cat back system with the dual 3inch out.

I have the sportscars of america 97 style ram air hood what kinda single plain intake do you think I can cram on the motor?

I have two TBI's on is a holley 670 350 replacement tbi and the other is a modified Rochester of a uhall 454 truck with the small injector pod like the holley with 85pph injectors( I think ? ) and can i make an ajustable regulator for either one?. What would be my best bet? what other parts might i need to get this thing to work right?

Extensive chip tuning for one. Datalogging software, and a Wide Band Oxygen Sensor would be helpful as well.

You need to get into burning your own chips to get it to run decent. A stock 305 tbi and even the 350 calibrations leave a lot to be desired. The stock calibrations are so universal that they'll work on just about anything but barely. Fuel pressure will only give you an eye watering rich idle and cruise.
Both of the TBI regulators (holley and rochester) are adjustable. Just drill out the brass brazing plug.
Other than an adaptor plate and the prom burning you're pretty set. Whatever you do, you're going to need a lot of fuel pressure. Over 20psi for sure. Depending on the injectors I'd be running a lot of fuel pressure. You're probably best to start off with 24psi and adjust the VE tables to get a decent idle.

check the GM part #'s on the injectors and determine what you really have. my 7.4L TB has 43 lb injectors in it(1995-1996). you may have 80 or 90 lb injectors in the GM. i believe the Holley will accept the GM injectors if you want to go that route and run the holley TB. your tune will need to know the injector size/FP you are running. i currently run 80lbs inj. at 11 lbs Fp and show 12.8 A/F on the WB at WOT. i plan on upping pressure when the new reg goes in and adjust tune. last summer showed 12/1 on WB but i leaned it out some this summer.

Sounds like a nice setup! Just though I'd let you know thats probably one of the meaner motors that TBI has been tried on. You really should have gotten into chip burning before you swapped motors , but if your determined you'll get it tuned without too many problems. Good Luck and keep us updated!

Yeah the prom is going to beat me down for a min. When I get it fired up I send pic and a parts list and hopefully "A How to burn 8746 TBI chips for dummies" if I can it running right. There is lots of good info on the prom bord, Just a small sticky with what does what and what to expect when changes are made. Maybie a math formula based on cam duration and injector size, for getting in the ballpark or at lest keep you from burning up lean or washing your rings down with fuel. or maybie I'm just stuck on dumm
