Fire!!!
Ok, I was trying to start a 92 RS, and it has the 305 TBI it just wouldn't hit, so I poped off the air filter and poured a shot of gas in it, it fired right up, ran for a sec and died. Backfired, and the excess gas caught fire. What parts could be damaged by this? I havn't got a chance to look at it close yet. thanks.

The injector connectors are most likely to be damaged. If it was a quick belch of flames and it went out then most likely the damage was minimal. If the tbi burned for more then a few seconds, like a 30 secs or more, id go through and rebuild the tbi pod to replace the o-rings and the diaphram in the regulator to be safe. There are also o-rings in the injectors but those are a little more shielded by the injector housing so they may be ok. Although there are plastic terminals in the injectors that may have been damaged.
If the fire spread to other areas around the tbi then lots of stuff could have been damaged the tps and iac, the dist., wireharness running past the tbi, etc. Check everything closely for damage.
For future reference, some no-start problems after long periods of cranking are caused by too much fuel. Press the accelerator to the floor and try to start it. If that fails and a flood looks to be the cause, unplug the injectors and crank it over several times for about 15 secs at a time to dry it out inside and then try to restart.

well, I took a closer look at it this morning, and the injectors look pretty toasted, but safe to say, that looks like all thats wrong, we cranked on it, and it tried to fire up, but its out of gas. I'm gonna pick up a new set of injectors tonight just to be safe.

In addition id also replace all the wearables in the pod if it was incinerated. Order a rebuild kit.
