Got a question about the IAC...

I read the new to throttle body thing, and read the article on taking it out and cleaning it, but the link that shows how to jumper points "A" and "B" doesnt work... i think dimented is the author... can someone get me a diagram or explain this?

I went back and checked the FAQ article and its wrong (for our application, at least). Looking at the ALDL connector. In the top row of pins, jumper the last two pins on the far right. These are A and B. IIRC, I think the ALDL connector has the letters molded into it as well.

EDIT: The article is right. He mentions that the later cars should have different pins jumpered rather then 'pins 6 and 12'.

dimented24x7 isn't talking about the 4-pin connector for the IAC valve, he's talking about the ALDL connector that is under the dash. You can see it if you lower the fuse panel cover and look to the right of the fuse block. You should see a black, rectangular 12-pin connector, that's the ALDL connector. That's where you have to jump the terminals.

To clean the IAC? Yes if its got alot of carbon buildup. The ecm doesnt know where the IAC is. It just steps it untill it sees the desired result. If its hanging or stuck itll cause idle and start problems.
