The stock setting is zero and thats what your sticker would tell you. I would go with 2* or 4* advanced. Check out the section on timing in the new to TBI sticky up top.

This may be a "stupid" question...but lookign at that sticker made me think about something.

If I set my timing with the car in park......vs with it in drive.....any difference? I wouldnt think there would be but....jsut something I sorta thought about when looking at that pic of the sticker.

Just set it in nuetral with the car idling. The computer will take over from there. Remember to unplug the EST.

I had the same thought. I've set my timing in park every time. I'll remedy that in five mins. but does it make a difference just so I know and its on the thread?
Thanks

As long as you had the EST wire unplugged it makes no difference if you set it in drive, park, neutral, reverse, at idle, at 3000 RPMs or bouncing off the fuel cutoff with the engine screaming it's lungs out.

I would guess that sticker is "dated"... meaning GM is too cheap to change it.

Back in the days of carbs it made more sense to set the base timing in Drive because the RPMs would drop slightly by increasing the load on the engine.

Still funny to see.
