New engine build. Ideas and help welcome...
I'm hoping to retire the old 305 by the end of the summer and I want something to suck me into the seat a little more than it did.
this is roughly my plan: (subject to change)
- I have a 350 4 bolt main block probly bored .030 over
- Compression will be 9.3:1
- Crane compucam roller cam with i think 204/212 duration @ .050 and 480 lift
- Dart Iron eagle heads w/ porting
- Hyd. roller lifters & probly 1.6 roller rockers
- ported 50mm TBI with injector pod spacer
- Edelbrock TBI intake ported to match 50mm throttle body
- I also will be balancing the engine (duh)
- some PROM tuning (even bigger duh)
- eventually i am going to add an MSD 6AL
My question is: what fuel pump would i need and what size injectors will i have to go with to give it enough fuel. I was thinking of getting the holly 255lph pump and 90 lb/hr injectors. Any input would be appreciated. Also, I'm hoping to run 13's with this combo after i change the tranny from a 5 speed to a 700R4 and add 3.42 posi in the rearend.

Correction
It's a comp cams compucam not a crane came if it matters. specs are the same.
I also have shorty headers, 2.5 to 3 inch y pipe, no cat and 3" exhaust with dynomax super turbo.

Sounds good, I would go with the 255 and 90# injectors too. Just make sure you can tune the chip right with them and you'll have no problem.
Oh, and why swap out the 5-speed?

I've been told that the 5 speeds can't quite handle much over 250 hp. Not sure if it's true, but from the little experience i have, i've noticed automatics with a good stall and a shift kit will shift just as hard and will turn more consistant times on the track

I think your manual would hold up to that engine just fine. Don't worry about what people say about rating it at 250, most of them never had a T5. Your car will weigh less, have quicker gearing, and get better mileage on the highway with the T5, I'd keep it around. You won't break one unless you are careless with it.
