SUMMIT Air Clear in V8 TBI

I need to know if the air clear part number SUM-G3001 which has 51/8" inside diameter might install it in the Throttle body.

Saludos

Yes, it will fit. Since it's a drop-base air cleaner, you will have to keep the stock gold spacer ring on, but other than that it should be pretty much straightforward.

Or you could get this base which will allow you to remove the gold spacer ring:

SUM-G3000B

I have this one and am not sure how to install the IAT on the little tbe they have on the bottom of this base.

Just get a hole saw and cut a spot for the spacer to wedge into it. I cut the hole just small enough so that I had to shove the IAT into the base. The tight fit keeps it in place.

Yeah, I've got the same base, but didn't have the "right" tools so I made a pair of pliers and a hammer work.

That is the route I will have to take (no hole saw). Plier and a hammer, huh? Scarey.

A question on the edelbrock pro flo #EDL-1221

I got one of these brand new out of a local parts store clearance bin for 10 bucks, this is a drop base, and its the three inch, I was curious if A. Anyone has had any experience with these and B. will it clear a factory hood on a 91 rs 305 tbi? What spacers will I need to use, if any?

If it is anything like the one I had (it was a K&N) I had to use the factory spacer ring and then spacers to add another inch or more of hieght to clear the throttle linkage and distributor cap.

It seemed to me after a while that this was inefficient. Since the TB sucks air from the sides having the spacers sit around the injectors and halfway over them, was, in effect, restricting the air flow.

It can be done however.

EDELBROCK PN 1222 QUESTION!!!!!

Hola Amigos!

I'm looking forward to install an open element on my 92 RS, It's a TBI so I'd like to know if any of ya had installed (or had seen it installed) this part in the same system as mine??? IF YOU HAVE ANY PICTURES IS BETTER!!! I've not bought it yet 'cause I'm not sure if it's gonna fit, I mean with the original hood...

The EDELBROCK 1222 is the Triangular Air cleaner with K&N filter element and it's 3 1/2" high.

Thanks for your help!!!

B-Rod.

This is the 4222 which is similar...

Thats my motor and yes I know it is dirty in that pic that was right after I bought the car it doesn't even have the mechanical fan anymore. It fits fine on a b-body.
