Guys...I have sorta figured out that my "winter no-start problem" is related to the vats system in my '89.

With you TBI guys have any of you guys dissabled it from the Prom in an 89? How hard is it to do something "simple" like that? I want to keep the Vats...but I want to get the car runnning if you know what I mean. I was going to wait a bit longer to get the prominator..but if its easy to dissaable it, it might accelerate my purchase of the prominator and diving into my own chips in an effort to get the car running!

Suggestions would be much appreciated!!!!

Depending on exactly what ECU file you are using, it may be called something else in your editor.

it should be under the options at 0x0007 bit 6 should be VATS enable.

 

So not a big deal to eliminate for a "newbie" prom burner then.... This might put me over the edge and force me into buying the prominator in an effort to quickly get my car up and running, then I can work out the bugs with the vats later.

Or put a truck or caprice ECM in it.
