Holy Crap was my timing off!!!
So as most of yall know, I put in the new motor last fall along with a tbichips.com chip from Brian. He told me to set the fuel pressure at 20psi and the timing at 0*.
So anyways, time marches on until I have to do emissions this week, which I promptly fail for having my NO too high. Not that bad at low load, but way over during the heavy load test. That and a bad gas cap to boot.
So after researching some, I come to find out, high NO is sometimes caused by either the timing being to far advanced, or the EGR valve being broke. Well I know the EGR valve is fine, 1.) we tested it; 2.) it's only 7 months old. So then I go to check the timing only to discover that with the wire unplugged, it was mechincally advanced somewhere around 14-18*
I think I found my problem right there. I'm assuming this had happened because I goofed when I set it the first time. So I turn her back to where she should be, and WOW! It's like I just picked up 25hp or something.
I knew I was leaving something on the table, but damn!
Traffic was heavy so it took me forever to find a suitable spot to test her out. The car used to be a dog at accelerating from a roll, but now she just straight up hauls. And my 0-60 has definately improved, spinning the tires all the way to 30mph.
So just a word to everybody out there, DOUBLE CHECK YOUR WORK.
Sorry for it being so long.

Glad to see it improve.......timing helps make or break it. My timing tables were way off but after someone set me straight (Thanks John
) it runs much better and I understand a little more about timing

Your engine wasn't pinging like crazy with the timing that far advanced? I bumped mine up to 5 degrees advanced and it helped power quite a bit but I had to run 93 octane to keep it from pinging so I backed it off to 3 degrees advanced and it runs good on 87.

I always run 93 octane anyways, so I don't know why it wasn't. Maybe the aluminum heads and aftermarket ignition system had something to do with it?

It was probably soo far advanced that the knock sensor picked it up right away and retarded the he!! out of it.
Good to hear you picked up some power with that though, I would check it again in a few days and make sure it isn't your distributor bolt slipping.
