Stalling Out

i have a 1983 trans am 305 crossfire recently it has been stalling out on me. When it stalls its completely random turns uphil downhill gunning it etc.. When it stalls sometimes it will kick right back over other times you can be there cranking it for 10-15 minutes and go though 2 batterys(i have a spare one for my car juzt incase thank *** i do) before it finally may start. When cranking it ive pulled the air cleaner and checked it isnt getting any fuel. I dont think its my fuel pump because it was just recently replaced and when they go bad dont they just go bad theres no sometimes it will work other times it wont. Ive checked my fuses its not them. Its not the batt cuz i have 2 ones a brand new optima the second is a die hard. Im hopin to take it i already have purchased the tickets to the all gm nationals in carlise. Please if you have any ideas help me could it possibly be a fuel filter thanks alot

I had a similar problem with my suburban which is a tbi also. It turned out to be the fuel pump relay. My dad told me to hit it with a hammer a few times and see if it would work. He says when they go bad they stick and if you hit them with a hammer and they start up then you should just replace them. That is what I did and have not had any problems since.
