My TBI + NOS

With the 383 pretty much ready to go for my rs, and my z28 down for the time being, I decided to make the NOS 5151 kit I had for the z28 work on my 305 TBI.

Keep in mind that I do have another engine ready to drop in, and the 305 will be pulled regardless. I am running a dry shot with a a "042" jet (roughly 75 shot)and a super powershot selenoid. I am by no means recommending anyone doing this. I've pretty much hidden my setup for the untrained eye for unnamed reasons...but obviously anybody who has a slight clue would find it.

I am running the dry shot for one main reason-being that it is TPI kit, there is no feasable way of making the fuel supply possible. The only two pieces I needed to buy on top of what I already had were a hand switch ($10) and a fan spray nozzle($15).
I already had the caddy air cleaner from a previous project, but opted to go with a connicle filter instead of the restrictive tpi setup. The ONLY reason I am not running the open element right now is because of the nitrous setup. Also, base timing is now at 4* advance as opposed to the 6* I was running, and I already had colder plugs in it.
I also have a walbro 255, which has had me running very rich, which probably helps explain why the engine is responding so well.
Anyways, the results are very nice, but unfortuantly the 4.11 gears are not only a bit steep now, the street slicks are taking a heafty toll on the rear now.

Wow, I can't believe you haven't blown somthin yet. The "dry" systems you see trick the ECM into adding fuel. Your not doing that, and your bigger pump isn't making you run any richer, your regulator just dumps the extra fuel back to the tank. I guess your running rich enough, for what ever reason, to prevent any damage.

Are you staying TBI with the 383?

The thing about my regulator/return line is that it doesn't seem to keep up. My FP use to sit at 11-12psi with the stock pump. With the high pressure walbro 255, idle is 15-16psi, and under load it never goes under 14psi. Not that 2 or 3 psi is going to be able to compensate for the 75 shot, but its probably worth a little something I suppose.

I will be running the commander 950 4bbl TBI setup on the 383. I will be running nitrous on the 383 as well, but it will be a wet kit, and I haven't desided whether or not to go with a plate setup or a port setup. The bottom end of the 383 is a 4bolt main 1 piece seal with forged internals balanced w/ a 7k redline.

I am thinking about it. I have the z-28 to play around with now, so maybe that will quench my thirst a little until I swap the 383 into the rs. I would like to see what the old 305 in the rs can do as well. I may mod around it for fittment purposes also. I have hedman LTs and a 55gpm electric water pump I want to install on the 305, so I know everything will clear.

As far as the nitrous goes, I have to order a slightly larger jet for the 305. Right now, I am using a .042, but I would like to try a .045 orr .047. Unfortuantly the next size up I have currently is .053.......but that is too big (from experiance, I am surprised the intake manifold isn't split in two....) TTYL

Roy what's up dude!! I have not heard from you in awhile. Let me know how your 305 does. Oh so my camaro has become a project car instead of a project/daily driver now. I am tired of trying to get stuff done in a rush.

Later bro
