I pull code 43 whenever I stomp the throttle. Seems that the SES light only comes on when the RPMs are above 3000. Do I need a new ESC?

Its hard to say. The engine may not go into detonation when the code 43 test is run, the knock sensor may be bad, the ESC modue could certainly be bad, or the motor may be going into detonation. A scan tool would really help to point you in the right direction.
