building hp
alright i'm finally looking at building a stroker, question
is it really imparitive to have a 4 bolt main to make 400hp?
or will a 2 bolt do the job?

The 2 bolt vs 4 bolt debate will always be present. I would try a few searches to help get a better feel for the necessity of each. A 2 bolt main can support a lot of power.

400 hp is the limit for a stock two bolt main and i say this from experince. Under heavy load like dragracing it puts to much stress on the cap right around the bolt. I would go with a splayed main cap so you could still use your two bolt block. Just take the block down to your local machine shop and have them drill the holes. 550hp is usaully the limit for a unreinforced block. You will need liftervally reinforcements to run any higher. I have both broke a main cap and cracked the block through the side of the lifter vally so i am telling you this from experince.
