Will it still run ok?

i'm going to be installing an lt1 cam with 416 heads yeah i know about the intake bolts but i couldn't find any 081, anyways i found a 454 tbi setup too. gonna swtich out my shorty headers to long tubes. i don't have a laptop nor know anyone to be able to tune it. so will my car still run strong with everything but on, or am i gonna be screwed till it gets tuned? or am i just gonna have to go carb ?

If you use the 454 TBI with the injectors in it, it probably will barely idle. If you keep the stock TBI and injectors on there, it will be a little better, but there will be flat spots all over the powerband, it will idle rich and stumble off the line, it will be lean on the top end and overall may be slower than you started.

To modify these cars ( or any fuel injection cars) you NEED to tune the Prom for it.

ok thanks for the info thats what i kinda thought so i'm gonna go carb cause i don't have to tools to prom tune or the money even if i wanted to. too much for laptop and the software than a carb, distributor, and manifold.

A cheap used laptop and the prom burning software/hardware will set you back less than $250.00. Last time I checked you could not convert to a carb for less than $500.00. You have to have a bypass style high $$$ regulator to keep from burnining up the pump in the tank. Rewire your engine, TCC, and change just about everything.
