Code 43, only occured once - what do you think.
Slapped a new exhaust on my "Vehicle," and drove it for awhile. To my delight, no EGR code! A friend wanted to hear it, so I gunned it in park for a second. Whoops - triggered a code 43, but that has not come back since, and was never there before.
What do you think - should I replace something (give me an idea on what) as a "Preventative Maintainence" concern, or just wait to see if it happens again? If the ESC poops out, could it be disabling, or will the engine still be able to run on base timing? (In other words, is that curcuit NEEDED in order for the ditsy to still fire?)
Thanks

k from what little i know about tunning which is nill i think i read somewhere that when the egr throws a code it adjusts your timing which hurts driveability so if u pull the connector it will throw the code hurting driveability and performance just as much...do a search though before u take this to heart

IIRC a code 43 is low voltage at the EST. I would say you are in the clear. Perhaps it was a fluke or a voltage drop when you hit the gas.
As long as it stays away I would say everything is okay.

Code 43 is either the forced knock failing to produce detectable knock, or excessive knock present. Scanning would tell you for sure. I ended up disabling the forced knock test on mine because I got tired of the constant code 43's.

if you apply that patch to rid of forced knock test it still will go off if u get real knock correct or does it just disable that flag period?

I can't wait until I get into prom burning...
- Highway mode (Truck 7747 = no h/w mode or not enabled at least)
- Delay P/E
- Shorten time until entering Closed Loop
.... and thats just the economy part...
