TBI Running like Crap after Running out of Gas

Last night i ran low on gas, so i pulled in and put $20 in the tank. After that it would surge a little and idle a little high and then want to kill. I replaced the injectors and the regulator unit and made no difference. I am thinking it is the filter or the Throttle positioning sensor. I am pretty sure it is not just bad gas because later that day i went to the same pump later that day and put gas in my other car and it is running fine.

Any suggestions or fix it ideas, common i need to fix it.

Most likely you clogged the fuel filter...

I also agree that you may have a clogged fuel filter. When the tank gets too low you pick up sedement that settles on the bottom of the tank over time. You could have also burned up the pump itself. The fuel in the tack cools the pump and it can fry up over time if you run the car low on fuel a lot.

I am pretty sure it is getting too much fuel because i can smell it coming out the exhaust. It starts idling high after a little while of running then it trys to calm down to idle but dies. Im going to try the Throttle positioning sensor and then the filter.

Well i changed the fuel filter and i thought it fixed it for a while because the car ran fine, then it got to about 160 farenheit and then it started doing it again. It all starts by the injectors hissing really loud and then it starts idling at about 1700rpm. Im you give it gas, it is hesitant but it will rev, but will not go under 1700rpm. Also when it the motor is dereving you can call it, it is slower comming back down than usual. I still have to check the throttle positioning sensor. Maybe when it ran out of gas it threw the computer out of wack, also i am pretty sure my pump is good to because i can hear it when i turn the key on.

Any suggestions.

Im pretty sure i fixed it, i accidentally mixed up the vacume line that goes to the EGR valve for one that goes on the front of the throttle body.
