Holley intake on 5.0 TBI

Hey Im new this is my first post....

Im looking at putting an intake on my girlfriends 90 Formula and I ran across one from Holley....I think I have read them being called Pro-Jection?? Anyhow I like the idle-6000 powerband for her and they are a good price. Does anyone run this intake on their 5.0? Did it make a noticeable difference? Is this a straight forward swap? Im not a TBI guy myself and her car is a learning experience for me because I run old and carbureted. If you guys can give me any heads up problems that I may run into I'd appreciate it. Sealing these intakes.....do you guys use the front and rear cork gaskets or just silicone like us ford guys? Our Fords won't seal unless its just silicone...

Where can I find a upgraded Throttle Body? What kind of cfm should I look for. I dont want anything outrageous. What does the stock one flow? Maybe that will help me decide. I'd like an equivilent to like a 540cfm - 600cfm carb. Do you get a noticeable difference from upgrading the throttle body?

Thanks in advance for any help you guys can give to me.

I run the Holley 300-66 intake, its a good piece, definitely improves on plenum volume. Your stock throttle body is fine, the bores on the Holley are 2" but your stock one will work on it, you aren't going to want to run a bigger throttle body on that 305 with all else stock, it'll just create driveability problems.

The Holley is not just a bolt on though, few modifications. I had to bend and cut new fuel lines to clear the plenum. Modify the throttle cable bracket, because it won't bolt up like stock. T-off one of the vacuum ports on the back of the manifold because you need 2, it has one. If you want to run EGR you need a different valve, smaller one. The stock valve will hit the side of the plenum, not clearing. Can't think of anything else right now. If you want a true bolt-on stock replacement the Edelbrock TBI manifold does that, I think the Holley is a better manifold but neither is going to make much of a difference on your stock 305. Headers would make a much bigger difference.

Do you have any pictures of the manifold installed? What did you have to do to the throttle cable bracket? Do they even make a smaller usable EGR valve to work?

The Holley Pro-Jection is a stand-alone TBI fueling system, I beleive, if it's this you're talking about:

http://www.holley.com/products.asp?product=502-20S

A stand-alone TBI system would be in REPLACEMENT OF your existing factory ECM/TBI system. I'm not sure if that's what you want.

I think what you're looking for is a better intake manifold, but still using your stock TB and computer system. If that's the case, Edelbrock makes a bolt-on performance TBI intake to replace your stock one:

http://www.edelbrock.com/automotive_...l-inject.shtml

OR... you can use a TBI adapter plate on top of a regular carburetor intake manifold. Forget who makes them. I'm sure somebody will chime in.

I have a picture of an edelbrock performer RPM with the Holley projection square bore to TBI adapter on my old 355.

I'm pretty sure he's talking about the Holley TBI intake manifold 300-66, think its called a projectoin too. I don't have any pics of it installed, and I'm 130 miles away from my car... I think with the throttle bracket I had to extend it rearwards a little IIRC. There are 2 bolts that hold it on I believe and I dont think they line up properly on the Holley intake.
