One question I cant avoid.
Well guys the Holidays are coming and I really need to make a list of mods for gifts. Ok I know there are like 800 trillion posts about Open Elements and all about them, especially the sticky. I have noticed that everyone likes the K&N X-Stream series. Well that is what I want. I tried to search, but I can just not find what size I need to clear a stock hood.
14'' X-Stream Assembly
9/16'' Raised Base
Neck Flange: 5-1/8''
Total Height: 3-7/8''
^^^^^Ok I dont think the raised base is for me from what I have read.
14'' X-Stream Assembly
1-1/4'' Drop Base
Neck Flange: 5-1/8''
Total Height: 3-3/4''
^^^^^I think that is too tall.
14'' X-Stream Assembly
7/8'' Drop Base
Neck Flange: 5-1/8''
Total Height: 3-1/8''
^^^^^^ Might be right?
This would be really easy of a choice if it was just something like 14x3, but its not. The main thing I need too know is if I need 1 1/4 drop base or 7/8 drop base. I dont think raised base would be smart. Also if anyone has a settup other than these, then please let me know.
Like I said guys sorry about such a dumb post, but I just dont wanna do it wrong and I have read these open element pages for over a month.
Thanks alot guys.

I have the 14" raised base, it allows you to remove the stock spacer from the TB.
Note... you wont get much from the X-Stream series if you hav ea stock hood, so it's not worth it til you buy a cowl, IMO

You want the 14x3 non drop base (flat bottom) air cleaner. I have a generic drop base with K&N filters and lid. They clear the stock hood fine and I also run a 1/2" spacer.

Ok well if I get a 14x3 flat base, where am I getting it lol? I looked in jegs and summit and can only find raised and dropped base in 14" form. So if ya remember where you got your flat base, please let me know.

believe i have a drop base, i wanted to change it so i could get rid of the gold spacer but since the motors not staying much longer i figure why bother it works, personally i would get a cheap one, then try a k+n, i found with my cowl i got a TON more throttle response with a 14x3" paper then i did with the 3" k+n, and even more from like 45+roll wiht the 4" paper, of course i dont have to worry about hood clearance..

Wow wonder why the paper filter did better than the K&N. Is there some reason for this lol?

A clean paper filter will work just fine...
And you want the first option you listed.
