Is this all I need for the Open Element?

Searching online found this Edelbrock kit online at www.summitracing.com

Part number is here EDL-1207

I went to the store and found it there for 30 so I might just pick it up tomorrow but is this all I need, this is for my 305 TBI...

I got confused cause someone told me oh you need a non drop base and blah blah blah....I was just wondering if I bought this edelbrock kit would I be set as far as installation goes?

Thanks

You can run a drop base or a non drop base. A non drop base is the way to go but either will suffice. If you have a drop base you will have to keep the gold spacer ring that surrounds the TBI unit and you will have to make sure the open element doesn't rub on the coil/plug wire(s).

whats the difference between non drop and base drop or whatever, I wanna order that Edelbrock thing if thats what I need to do an open element, and are you talking about the spark plug wires or the actual coil wires themselves?

Would I see them if I take off my air filter?

I am gonna be installing this thing over the xmas break and hopefully get my hooker exhaust installed as well...

I just wanted to know if I can do this Edelbrock thing safe and easy?

yah your over complicating things (no offense meant)check out the stickies. This is a 2 minute mod if it takes you longer then there's nothing going on upstairs hehe.

What you want is a non drop base (drop bases sit real low and can cause interference that's why you have to leave the spacer if you go that route).

Just buy an edelbrock non drop base air cleaner and drill a hole in the bottom of it to house the sensor. Good luck i've been told these make a good bit of difference. When i bought my car it already had a 3in single pipe dual out muffler and the open element on it so i can't realy tell you myself how much difference they make.
