need some help, car not starting

car: 91 firebird 5.0L 305 tbi

ok ive had this problem 3 times now... my car is cranking but not starting, i know its not the battery or the alternator. the car has done this before, and it wouldnt start for a day the first time... then about 2 weeks later it wouldnt start again for another 2 days... about a week after that it stoped starting again, and it hasnt started in about 4 days. when i try to start it i hear the fuel pump turn on, but im not getting gas in the injectors, idk whats goin on, could it be a bad fuel pump/filter? injectors?.... also the last time i got it to start it started bogging out then i gave it gas and it ran pretty smooth the rest of the day.... then it just wouldnt start.

any help would be greatly appreciated, because i dont wanna drop the tank and crap to change the pump and realize i didnt have to. if u need more info... ask away.

I would say that the best place to start will be to replace the filter or at least make sure that it flows fuel. When you turn the key to the run position do you hear the pump run for a second or two? Replacing the pump is not hard if you cut a hole in the pannel above the tank.

I would rent/buy the Acron fuel pressure tester and see what your feed line fuel pressure is. If it is less than 9psi you have a dying pump. It sounds like that is your problem. Replace the fuel filter as mentioned above but do not resort to cutting the hatch for pump access. That is uncessary even if you end up replacing the pump. Find the problem first and go from there.
