what other ECM's can i use inplace of a 1228063?
i found a 4.3 caprice 1228063 ecm, if i switch chips it should work with my camaro right? reson being i fired my ecm....

 

7747/8746 will also work. Hardware wise, theyre the same as the 8063.

 

Oh, youll have to use the chip that comes with the ecm, or transfer the calibration. If you get one from a camaro/firebird, itll be a direct swap if your using the stock prom.

 

Go to ebay.com and search for 1228063. There are several ECM's there right now.

 

Yes, it will work. Swap the PROM and CALPAK from your current ECM into the one from the 4.3. These are the two 'chips' under the small cover.

I take it you have an '88? If so I wouldn't recommend the '8746, has VATs.

Didnt read the part that you found one. Your lucky... When I was looking for a replacement, the 8063's where 3x the cost of a standard 8746

 

well i picked up a 7747 ecm out of a 1987 Astro with the 4.3 TBI, so what do i do now, switch the calpak and the prom, the calpacks the smaller one next to the prom on the right side when you open up the cover right?, i have all the stuff to burn my own proms and such now i gotta de soder the G2 board and switch all that crap over o'well, but this sould all work with what i have right?
