External Regulators

Those of you with external regulators; did you put the regulator on the return port of the pod, or did you block the stock return port and return fuel at the regulator on the inlet side?

Any issues with deadheading at the pod?

Edit.

Think I found my answer. Has anyone actually had any issues with deadheading at the pod, or is it all theory?

i have aeromotive external unit offers two springs. one to 20 and other like 20-60 lbs. lead is to TB in/out of TB, then to REG, REG backs up pressure and then returns to gas tank. i attached REG to bracket on alternator where the air pump used to attach. perfect place. used aeroquip pushfit EFI line and same fittings. the original FPR was capped off. this was 2 years ago and hard to remember the end configeration. car in barn till 4/1.

i can send to you photo direct. cant post here for reasons unk.

The only possible issues, provided the regulator is blocked off entirly with no diaphram, is possible heat soak and vapor lock issues. At high pressures, this would probably be non-existant. The other way would be to use an external regulator on the return side that allows the fuel to return once a preset fuel pressure has been reached. I dont know if those are available or not.

I currently have an external regulator (with block off plate in place of original) on the return outlet of the TB.

I would agree that with higher pressures heat soak and vapor lock wouldn't be issues.

I will eventually install the Vortech supercharger and was thinking about fueling. I'd like to use 2 in tank fuel pumps but didn't want the hassle of using a Hobb's switch to activate the second pump. Running both pumps continuously would be simpler, but don't kow if the injectors would like that or not

Guess the big issue would be the amount of fuel that would have to be returned to the tank when under low loads, like idle.

I put the regulator on the return line from the TBI unit. Used a block off plate where the stock regulator goes. As for placing the TBI dead-headed off the regulator, I feel it is better to set stuff up using the best possible methods.

Purging air can be an issue with dead-headed setups.

RBob.

Using Aeromotive 13301 like Ronny. Return line at bottom of VAFPR. Running 20 psi thru 80# injectors on Xfire manifold. Original regulator and accumulator are capped off.
