Intake ports on edelbrock man....check this out

Ok so tonight i decided to check and mark out my manifold to match the ports on the heads, the heads are done to a 1205 gasket, just a small race port, so i realized i was going to have to port quite a bit on the edelbrock manifold...just for the hell of it i went and looked at the stocker, the ports on the stock manifold is actually larger than those of the edelbrocks, anyone ever notice this?????

Hopefully get that ported this weekend, need to order the rest of the parts tomorrow, got my tbi ported and wow i now have 4 hours into that and have it about as good as i'm gonna get it, i'm impressed, shes really gonna flow like mad now, i'll get pics of my port work on the tbi after i get it cleaned and all put back together

yep I noticed it to when I first got my manifold.I'm still porting it right now but when I'm finished it's going to match up perfectly with my heavily worked 081's.There's also one thing I noticed when I got my manifold too.I found little pepple sized aluminum "pellets" in my manifold.I could shake the manifold and they would fall out.I THROUGHLY cleaned out the manifold before even thinking about putting it on.did you find the same thing?

Yes sir, sure did, i knew i was gonna be porting em though so i figured i'd give it one good clean out at the end.....what are the specs on those heavily worked 081's? I got a 1205 race port so i got a wee bit of work on the manifold to take off, hoping to get that done tonight

I haven't got the heads back from the shop yet but here are the specs on the heads.

Backcut 1.94 and 1.54 valves
ceramic coated valve faces
3 angle valve job
full bowl blend and gasket match to Felpro and hooker gaskets
full polish and valve deshrounding of the combustion chambers
exhaust ports will be mirror polished when i get them back (i'll do whatevers left to be done)
valve guides cut for a .550 lift (to be on the safe side)
screw in studs
ZZ4 hardware (springs,retainers,locks.)

Is there a reason why they do this, I would still think it should flow better than stock.

Wow man, we are running close to the same damn setup, except i'm running comp springs, retainers and locks, and SS valves,

90camaro....the construction looks like it would flow better than stock and it is taller, i have about 4 hours into porting and polishing my manifold to match the heads and i only have one side done, i am taking quite a bit off to get the 1205 port match, its tedious but coming out great, i'll be sure to post pics of it when i'm done, along with the tbi i have turned into one serious flow job

I wouldn't "polish" the intake, you want it alittle "rough" to help with fuel suspension.
