Just installed my TBI, runs great!!
Howdy guys......
I'm pretty new to the game here, and I'm a little out of the norm for this board. I'm using TBI on a 4x4 for off camber trails and steep hill climbs.
I just installed '91 TBI on my '76 stock 350 with a 1227747 ECM. I set the timing to 8* BTDC per my 76 manual (also seems to be popular number with the camaro guys), and am currently running the stock fuel reg at about 13 psi with cold engine/fuel. I installed the LH '91 exhaust manifold to use the O-2 sensor.
I'm running a Walbro GLS391 pump with a 1.5L surge tank and a stock '91 camaro fuel filter.
So far I drove it 2 days and went out on the trails once. I haven't had enough time to check the mileage yet. Changing over from the carb the power is as good or better, the exhuast sound is louder and much sharper (not sure why??), throttle response is a bit more sluggish, but over all power at cruise speed seems improved. And the best thing, it doesn't die unless I shut off the key!!!!
Upgrade plans include raising fuel pressure to around 20 psi, and possibly doing some programming if I get really motivated.
Any suggestions, comments or rude noises??

Re: Just installed my TBI, runs great!!
yep- i say upgrade your ecm- but what it really boils down to is what you want out of the truck. do you care more about mileage or trail performance? what kind of speeds do you hit on the trails you drive, does the truck get into top gear? maybe you want more power than the tbi can give you?
the thing I get the most "fun" out of is a y-pipe and electric cutout i got from summit.
Anyone out there know what the easiest upgrade would be for the 1227747? I was thinking of upgrading the box in my yukon before i reprogram it, and i see you have the same one.

I beleive you mean upgrading from the 7747ecm to the 7427pcm correct?? The 7747 is an older ecm but can still be tuned easily for this application. The 7427pcm is faster and more advanced, will also run electronic tranny etc. It can also be made to run MPFI.

Re: Just installed my TBI, runs great!!
i am seeing a number more like 16197427- is that what you mean?
Re: Just installed my TBI, runs great!!
Yes everyone will reply to their ecm.pcm numbers by the last 4 in the 8digit factory number. There for the 7747 is the earlier ecm and the most common up grade is to the 7427 same one that you just mentioned etc.
