What brand EGR?

I need a new EGR valve, but I want to get a good one. I bought some stuff at AutoZone (heater control vavle) and it expoded all over my block in about 3 months. I wanted to know which brand EGR would be good to get and would fit right (friend with a 91 350 TBI truck got one, didn't fit right....

Would it be bad to remove the EGR/ smog pump. Doesn't removing the EGR on a TBI car require reprogramming the computer? Could a bad EGR make for bad gas mileage?

I removed my AIR pump with out reprogamming and no issues, but if I removed the EGR itself I would need to reprogram the chip.
