Got a starting problem PLEASE HELP!!
Hi all,
I got the car just a month ago and it has always be a pain to start.
I have to give it a little gas to get it started and leave it on or it will start up and then died. But that is not the big problem, after I start it and turn it back off after it warms up the car will not start again for at lest 4 hours. I just replace the starter with a high torque starter and it tries its hardest to start the motor but I don't even get a sputter out of the car. But like I said 4-5 hours later in starts right up giving it a little gas. Also there are no problems when I'm driving the car just sometimes a high idle.
I was talking to a friend of mine from Auto Care America and he thinks it is the idle air control module or my brand new starter.
I price the idle air control module at O'Reillys $79.95
So I just wanted to see if anyone had any other thoughts
before I go spend money I don't want to part with.
Or if someone has one F/S let me know.
car is a 1990 5.0 TBI Camaro RS
I appreciate any help given
Thanks, JR

re ur problem
well, this might sound off the wall, but i had that same problem with my ford ranger, it turned out that when the car was cold it was a pain it the butt to start, and it idled around 1400 rpm, i tried a lot of sensors, and it was the fuel pressure regulater, before i sold it for my camaro, it fired up and ran no problem, so that might be worth a shot, if thats not it, im sorry i tried ill see what else i can dig up.
