Am I making this too hard?

Im having trouble understanding what I need for tuning a swapped engine. Im wanting to build a nice strong motor for my firebird (350? 355? 383?), which has an L03, now. I understand that Ill need all the necessary engine stuff, but this computer stuff has me confused. Im going to buy an EBL from dynamicefi, when I get the money, and a good laptop. Also I know I need a cable (for datalogging), tuner, a few chips. Now for the confusion. I plan on getting a TBI unit from a buddies 454. Im hoping itll fuel the new engine better, and help with future upgrades. I read somewhere that I needed a wide band O2 sensor. Then I read I didnt. And that reading plugs was the way to go. This makes more sense, because I only have one O2 sensor, on the driver side. What about the passenger side? Do I have to have a wide band O2 to tune a non-factory engine? And what .bin am I going to use to start a new engine? Where can I get one? I cant use the L03 .bin, can I? Wouldnt it run lean? Pardon my ignorance, I have been reading as much as possible, but its still a bit confusing. I have read all the tuning stickies.

The wideband 02 will make tuning much easier but you don't have to have it. I would get another o2 bung right after the y-pipe and place the wb02 there. You can start with about any bin because you are going to end up changing it a lot.
I'm definately not the expert, but that gives you a little bit of advice.
