tbi dumping fuel

While driving to work car started surging while trying to to accelerate from a stop and once car was up to speed. Removed air cleaner & both injectors are spraying a lot of fuel,at idle rpms are from 1000 to almost nothing. Checked codes & I would get different ones each time of the 5 times i tried I got 13 22 23 24 33 34 44 replaced map sensor not sure what to check next, fuel pressure regulater? Has anyone had this problem or can tell me what to check? Thanks in advance

My car did the same thing, the problem was the Coolant Temperature Sensor, the plug in the intake right around the thermostat housing. If it goes out it will give a reading of -40 or something like that and the ECM will attempt to compensate and dump fuel, which in this case is way too extreme. Are your bores filling up completely in a matter of seconds?

Its not that they are completely filling up but the injectors seem to be spraying almost wide open. Fuel is forming drops on side of bores and on blades. With air cleaner cover off hissing of injectors spraying is loud, does this still sound like possible coolant temp sensor? If so I will replace thanks

I second the temp sensor suggestion, a quick test would be to unhook it and see if you can see a noticable increase in fuel being injected, if you can't then thats your problem.

Make sure you are checking the correct sensor since the guage sensor looks like the ECM sensor on some models.

Just replaced coolant temp sensor & no change. Disconnected battery while I went to get part to clear code. Im pretty sure its correct port every time I jumped it I got three 12 codes at the beginning as haynes manual says.

Have you checked the wires going to the injectors where the air cleaner mounts. If the wires are shaved bare or have been pinched by the throttle body and air cleaner and are touching ground it will hold the injectors wide open.

Im having a very similar problem. THe car has been sitting for about a month and ran fine before it sat. Went to crank it yesterday and fills the bores with gas, wont crank. Saw that the map sensor vaccuum line had a hole in it, replaced it, no change. Replaced the gasket b/w tb and intake, no change. Can get the car to crank by unplugging both injectors and itll start with the fuel it already dumped but will die once its gone. I got it to crank another time with this method and plugged the injectors back in once it was running and it ran, but poorly. Smoked real bad, stumbled when you give it gas. Im gonna try the coolant temp sensor and see what that does. I have another TBI unit i will try if that doesnt fix it.

Thanks everyone,
Brian
