TBI Spacer, Hypertech Chip???

I was just wondering if someone could give me a little more information about TBI Spacers, Performance chips, or other upgrades I could do to my 305TBI. Just wondering which would be most noticable, if I could espect any change fuel milage, and costs of such upgrades. Let me know what you know! Thanks.

Hey man, its me Eric, the guys guestbook u signed. How u doin? Still looking for stuff to do to the car eh? TBI spacer is a good start, so is the chip. People have different opions on chips but I like my hypertech thermomaster for now. As for other little things you can start on, I would maybe try a K&N open element size 14x3 or 14x2.5 Also, maybe a 3" exaust system or headers are always nice. Work your way up to the big stuff.

One of my clients, who is heavily into drag racing once told me that by far the best value in performance upgrades would come from a change in rear gearing. Your car probably has something like a 2.73 to 1 stock rear end gear ration. Switching to something like maybe a 3.73 to 1 rear gear ratio would provide a ton more thrust when accelerating. I believe installation is something best left to a professional, but the whole thing can be done for less than $500. There are trade offs like higher RPM cruising speed and poor gas milage but there are many ratios available to choose from. A set of 3.73s will definately be one of my next improvements.

I have a 1992 camaro RS with the 305 TBI and i have ran a 15.80 in the qtr with the following mods:air pump delete, hypertech thermo master chip and 160 stat, 14x3 K&N air cleaner, hypertech power coil, 3.73 auburn rear, cat eliminated, edelbrock tes headers, and a flowmaster 80 series muffler, and trans torque convertor lock up switch. I have friends who dog out my car but it was fun when I changed rears and pulled away from them ata light. If anything the rear is the first thing to do because it made a huge improvement. Good luck

What is this 160 stat that everyone says that they have? Also, I am not planning any huge performance upgrades for right now, a new rear is definately pushing my limit. Right now i am in College and am pressed for money. I have in my car a K&N air filter right now, what is the 14X3 and 14X2.5 that you were talking about, 91BIRD305? How would I be able to tell what i have? AS you may be able to tell, I am not too fluent with this performance stuff, so bear with me guys, I APPRECIATE YOUR HELP.

the 14x3 is the actual size of the element itself(filter). I think Bird was saying to get and open element air cleaner. Go to my page and look under my pics and when my hood is open u can see what im talking about. The best chip i've seen ive used ads, hypertech, and jet stage 2 was the jet one. It made the most noticable difference. I would get the gears they dont mean a whole near rear end get richmond gears only about 199 bucks plus install kit another 100 bucks. NOt that bad that will give u the most noticable difference. The open element should only cost you about 30 bucks if that. Then i would go with headers, exhaust and u can do pablo's free tbi tricks look in the tech articles. I'm getting tired and my eyes hurt i hope this helps a little.
