need TBI help

ok trying to get this 87 Chevy work van with 350 TBI motor started.

put a new battery in, can get it started once in a while - other times it sounds like the starter is not engaging?

anyways when I get it started I have to pretty much floor it to keep it running, and then after about 1 min it will start loosing RPMs and just die even with the pedal to the floor. like it is not getting fuel after a short time.

anyone have any direction? it was sitting for around 2 months but was driven before that

Yo Bro, I think the first thing people will say is fuel filter or pump. Have you checked that? Well, that's the extent of my knowledge on TBI. later

ooh one more. Doesn't a TBI have a MAP sensor? It doesn't skip or anything does it. Similiar to the symptoms of a bad MAP except there is usually a skip. probably no help huh? lol

I was once told that to check the MAP sensor, you gently tap the sensor, while the engine is idleing. If the car's idle fluctuates, then you have yourself a bad MAP. Dont know if you want to try this out, its purely heresay. Peace.
