hey pablo. i have been looking around for the manual sterring box that you mentioned for my car.i am having trouble locating one in my area, trenton, nj. the parts stores don't even list replacement units available. can you suggest anyplace online to look for it, or any chain store that may be worth looking into.
i have 1 more salvage yard to check and i am gonna call napa tomorrow. any help is appreciated, i am running out of options.

i havent done the swap myself but ive heard from numerous people that the 86 S10 manual rack bolts right in thats the manual box i was talking about i hope i didnt make it sound like some thirdgens came with a manual box

 

Pablo, is the manual S10 box supposed to weigh less? I currently have the pump and lines removed off my 82 Z. I screwed 2 fittings into the box and filled it up with P/S fluid, then looped a peice if the high pressure line from fitting to fitting. Its a little hard (a little harder than normal manual steering) sitting still but drives pretty easy when rolling. I do have 15X4 Convo Pros though, so it might be a B*#@H to drive with 8 of 9" tires on front, I've never tried.

yeah basset.. ive heard all sorts of claims about it being lighter, from 30 to 50 lbs lighter for the entire setup (depending on who you ask) if i were running skinnies id go to it in a second and i still might, if my ps pump craps out you know ill be getting one

it'll definately be easier than turning the hyd. box with no pump

 

Man, 50# would be sweet!! Hell, 30# would be too, and then I stop having to to go the gym just to turn mt steering wheel!!
