there was a guy around here that went by "Wakko92RS" who claimed low 13s N/A and like mid-high 12s at like 114mph on nitrous he had trick flow heads and the holley intake and TB

I think Jprevost (?) ran like a 13.3 with what he has

Well, when bandimere opens I'll let you know. I expect to run 16 flat at first Maybe 15.8 or so even. But then again I'm at 5800ft and pushing a 4400lb car.

After the 400 and a little boost, I hope to get into the 13's up here. That'd be the low 12's high 11's at altitude.

Wasn't anything groundpounding, but my first and only time to a dragstrip, i ripped off the time below in my sig. Couln't get any traction, I'm sure I could've planted high 15's if I could. Thinking about some 295x60's for the rear and some traction bars.

I am getting one in March probably for the spring to see what my car runs. I am praying for high 14's. Hey, what did Shane's 355 run with TBI on it?

I haven't been able to get to the track, but now that the car is almost ready to go they're closed . Anyways, I can hang easily with LS1's. That's with a 2 1/4 inch stock catback and open 3.73's. I raced an SS when I had 2.73's and it was close then too. I'm guessing low 13's. Maybe 12's if I can get a posi rear and some traction.

I have an 89 RS (see mods below) that I haven't tried at the track yet, but it kicked a friend's 95 Cobra's a$$ Tuesday. He ran a 14.70something a about a month ago, but this was on the street, and I hooked a lot better than he and it was real close. I'm not sure if I would have beat him,had he hooked up a little better, but nonetheless, I still got braggin' rights -- He says he wants a rematch after Christmas, so he must be getting something "good" in his stocking.
I ran my car when it was bone stock, and it went 15.68 @ 88, and I'm thinking maybe high 14's now, I let you know in a few weeks for sure.

At the time I had 305 manifolds, 2 1/2 inch exhaust, Nitto DR's, Dynomax Super Turbo muffler, somewhat modified TBI unit (Rochester), not much else. The engine is a 327 BTW.

Now I have:
327, WC T-5, Posi 3.73, SLP 1 5/8" headers, 3" exhauts with no cat, Flowmaster 80, Torker 2 intake manifold, big cam,Fast Burn heads, and some other little things
Hoping for 12's next spring.

hey evilface, i wouldn't suggest those giant tires yer lookin at, look for some more grippy tires not just bigger ones. the taller a tire is the more it effects the gear advantage of the rear. if you stick to a stock, 25.7" tall tire, or close to stock drag radial, nitto and bfg both make tires between 25.5" and 26" tall, you will gain more from that than just buying the most giant tire you can fit.
once you have the tires, look into getting a posi and some good gears for a big gain.

Evilface, u must have some pretty bald tires to have such a bad traction problem. I would try new tires first. You don't really need slicks for ur engine at this point. It just doesn't create that much tq at this stage in the engine. I would get them for the 350 u are looking into though. Then u would need them.

91Bird305,
I have very similar mods to you and I just got a g-tech and ran it last night and the best I got was 14.97 at 95. How accurate are they?(anyone) because I did some tuning and it felt a little faster but not that much. I was vey suprised, who else has experiance with the g-tech?

YOU RAN A 14.97! AND U HAVE SIMILAR MODS TO ME??!! WHOHOOOO! Maybe I will break into 14's then. Sorry, that was my goal with my engine. Not get to deep into it and be able to get into 14's. The G-tech's are pretty accurate with the 1/4 mile but are usually about 2-3mph off. I am getting one in March for my b-day i guess. What have u done to ur car that I don't have? What kind of tuning did u do? (plugs, wires, afpr?) Thanks

I have actually ran my car down the track with the G-tech on to see for myself and the time slip and G-tech numbers were exact. The mph was exact too. Everyone that was there that day could not believe how accurate it was, including me, but maybe this will answer some of your questions...

91Bird305,
The only thing that is different between our cars is mine is a 5-speed with 3.08 posi and I don't have a strut tower brace or a tb spacer. I'm running 6* advanced, and not sure about the fuel press I have a guage but I haven't put it in yet. When I ran the 14.97 it was late at night and about 50* out. During the day yesterday all I could do was 15.2 at 92

By the way I just reacently uped the fuel pressure from when I smogged it and put the headers and exaust on, when I checked my plugs they were really white. When I changed it it felt like a big differance.

checking your plugs at anything other than WOT is sorta meaningless

if you wanna do a real plug read what you need to do is go WOT and cut out the motor at the rpm you wanna look at , it has to be in high gear to load the motor like second or third in a 700r4

say you wanna see how rich or lean it is at 4000 run it up to 4000 and cut out the ignition (find a deserted road) and throw it into neutral and park on the side
get your glove on and pull out the plug
the plug should be pretyt much white if you see any black on it its rich, and if you see any specs of stuff that look like fly turds that means you are knocking, if you look deep in the plug it should fade to a tan color

pulling the plug from idle (which is what youare doing if you just park and pull it out) is gonna show you a 14.7:1 mixture which is obviously very clean
http://www.nightrider.com/biketech/readplugs.htm

this is a great article to help you out

I took the RS to the track this weekend and she ran a best 15.03 @ 92.7 This was on a set of M/T ET Streets, no burnout, and 20# of pressure - I tried 22# once but it began to spin that high. I really wanted to break the 14 sec barrier, but this has made me feel pretty good about the car. Next weekend, I'm going to install the the Hedman Hedders and Y pipe that I used to run on the 82. I hoping for 14.80's or maybe .70's since I still have the stock manifolds as of now. For no more than I have done to the car I'm fairly impressed

ive got a camaro. 1988. A stock vortec 350 from a yukan truck, I pulled the intake and installed a performer rpm, and a tb adapter plate to a 454 throttle body with stock injectors pushing 14 #s of pressure controlled by a stock 305 computer chip.
the setup is mated to a c/s 700r4 and stock rear {posi}. pulling to 5300 rpm, the car runs 13.80 @ 100 or better, Im always playing with the setup, timing and so forth

by the way did i mention its a convertible,, seeya on the road......

I just got a '91 RS last week. I can't believe how much slower it is than my '85 Z28! The RS has 74000 miles on it and is in excellent condition. What mods will really wake up a TBI 305?

Joe,
My car ran high 16's when it was stock 3 years ago. Now after 2 and a half years of paychecks, a 355, modified TBI unit, 2800 stall converter, auburn posi, adn 3.73's, i was able to get a 13.2 @ 101mph. but i hope to swtich to TPI now that I have a doner car and get into the 12's.
good luck with your car.

Hey Z28Maniac, I made a small site on all the mods I did and what was good and bad about them and some stuff to help u to get your engine moving quicker. All the mods listed in my sig I talk about and some tech tips to help u out. Go there and see if it helps at all. Its the second site in my sig.
