what are the stats on a late 80's-early 90's 350tbi? hp and tq?

 

From what I can gather the best one to get is a 92-93 L05 out of caprice police car. Its rating is not all that great 205hp/4200rpm 300tq/2400rpm. The swirl ports give it low end torque but if you go too much more than stock or slightly modified they will end up hurting you. They come with a factory roller cam, the truck l05s from the same period did not.

The 89-91 cop car L05 were not far behind in hp/tq ratings and should not be overlooked.

The civilian caprice L05's have a differant cam and injectors and dont make as much power.

Theres lots of simple mods that can be done to these motors to squeeze out more power. Guys like Kdrolt (use search feature) know alot more about it than I do. But the consensus is you can land about 240 +/- hp with exhaust and a only a few simple mods that arent too expensive.

My caprice moves decent with its stock L05, but its a 2+ ton car. Its not the greatest off the line but it will usually smoke the tires and it can pass like a sombich on the hwy

Obviously headers and true dual exhaust. An air intake mod, whether it be hacking up the stock air box, getting a caddy box (dont know if these will fit under the camero hood) or making your own. Doing "ultimate" TBI mods (listed in the tech section of this website). Adding 1.6 ratio rocker arms with new springs and timing chain. Replacing the mechanical fan with an electric one and last but not least a PCM tune.

I havent done any of this, this is just what I have gathered from about 6 monthes of studing these forums. There are other mods I may be missing or am unaware of.
